Session 3, Chapter II of T-W

I only put here things that require use of Maple or Matlab. The rest I did with pen and paper.

Exercise 2.2 Here some solutions to the equation

-u''(x)=f(x), x on (0,1), u(0)=u(1)=0
were determined analytically, using a Green's function coded in Maple.
(a) f(x)=x^2, (b) f(x)=exp(x), (c) f(x)=cos(ax)

The Maple solution is here.

Exercise 2.8 This I'll just do on paper, alhough it might be easier with the Maple worksheet.

Exercise 2.14 Matlab m-files are here. And here is an image of the exact solution plus solutions with schemes S1 and S2 using n=10, h=11. The blue curve correspopnds to S1.

Exercise 2.16 Trivial. Pen & paper.

Exercise 2.17 Matlab m-files are here. The rest is on paper.

Exercise 2.19 P&P

Exercise 2.27 P&P

Project 2.2 Too time-consuming. I'll skip this.
