Efficient Domain Decomposition Algorithms for Nonlinear Flow Through Porous Media
The Mortar Mixed Finite Element Method is a useful mathematical
framework for coupling multiple scales, physics, and numerics. It can
also be a convenient mechanism for parallel programming, but in the
case of nonlinear model problems, specialized algorithms are needed to
obtain good parallel scalability. I will discuss two techniques
developed to reduce computational runtime of the mortar method in the
nonlinear case: The Frozen Jacobian Preconditioner, and The Global
Jacobian Algorithm.
