Weakly symmetric mixed methods for linear elasticity
We consider mixed methods for linear elasticity with stress tensor that
is not a priori assumed to be symmetric. The symmetry is imposed weakly
and the Lagrange multiplier introduced has the physical meaning of the
rotation tensor. The stability and error analysis with mesh dependent
norms is outlined.
Then we consider several families of methods; first one developed at
Aalto exactly 26 years ago, then more recent methods of
Arnold-Falk-Winther and Cockburn-Gopalakrishnan-Guzman. No numerical
examples are given.
