Mean curvature
motion in gravity on the liquid-solid interface of helium-3
A crystal either grows or melts if there is a chemical potential
difference
across the liquid-solid interface. This motion is driven by the surface
tension
and the hydrostatic liquid pressure. I will present how the surface
tension
affects the crystal growth in the presence of gravity and how this
effect can be
used in the studies of the mobility of the interface.
