Two-Model Monte
Carlo Simulation of Fire Scenarios
In the probabilistic approach to fire safety design, the answer of the
numerical simulation is not any single number, but a probability, at
which certain criteria are met. In practice, the best way to perform
probabilistic simulation is Monte Carlo, where the simulation is
repeated many times with inputs randomly picked from the distributions.
In the presentation, a new technique is presented wich accelerates
Monte Carlo simulation by combining the results of two different
models. The
physical and numerical features of the state-of-the-art fluid dynamics
fire
model are also presented. The model is based on the fast numerical
solution of
Navier-Stokes equations on rectilinear grids.
