A Model of Human Phonatory Organs

In this talk I shall introduce simple models of human phonatory
organs - the glottis and the vocal tract.

The glottis model is a mechanical mass-spring model with altogether
four degrees of freedom. An output for the glottis is constructed and
fed as an input to the vocal tract model, which is a wave equation
model in an anatomically realistic geometry. In addition, from the
solution of the wave equation, a counter pressure is fed back to the
glottis model, thus forming a physical feedback loop between these two
models.
