Evaluation and calibration of digital photogrammetric systems on a test
field
Photogrammetric imaging techniques are being converted from analog to
digital. The improved image quality will mean new potential for automation
for image measurement and interpretation. In order to exploit these
advancements to optimum effect, the performance of the entire
photogrammetric system must be studied, and the overall system
calibration must be accurately determined.
In this presentation, I will introduce the Finnish Geodetic Institute's
permanent test field and describe it's use in geometric, radiometric and
spatial resolution testing and calibration of high-resolution airborne
and satellite imaging systems. I will also discuss about the radiometric
calibration of digital images, i.e. converting the image digital numbers
to actual physical quantities like reflectance and radiance.
