Numerical analysis of electrical machines: Field, forces and performances

The structure and different constructions of rotating electrical machines are explained. The working principle and the equations of magnetic and mechanical field are presented and developed into adequate form for FEM implementation. Different aspects related to the application of these equations to the analysis of rotating electrical machines are discussed. The problems related to the non-linearity of iron as well as these related to the coupling of magnetic field with mechanical and electrical fields are raised and presented. Some post-processing method to calculate the magnetic forces, torque and other quantities of importance are presented also.
